or its 16th-century Al Jalali fort, perched high on rocky cliffs looking out

over the Sea of Oman, to the three circular towers of Mutrah Fort sat high

TURTLE WATCHING

Oman is a haven for sea turtles and each year thousands migrate

to the Sultanate to lay their eggs. Not only is it possible to spot these

beautiful creatures while snorkelling and diving, but at certain times

of the year, visitors can also go to special locations to watch turtles lay

their eggs by night and, early in the morning, witness baby turtles emerge

and rush for the safety of the sea.
